Members of the Coordinating Team
Presbyterian Women provide a way for women in the church to work and study together and to enjoy fellowship with each other. All church women are invited to attend monthly Circle Meetings and the General Gathering meetings.
Bee Ridge Presbyterian has eight women's circles which meet at various times and days during the month to afford convenient access to everyone. Meetings provide a time for togetherness along with prayer and Bible study and wonderful refreshments!
In addition, Presbyterian Women support a number of missionary projects as well as contributing to the Columbia Friendship Circle of Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, GA. since 1974.
A very special group of women (and men) known as "Honey Bees" volunteer to care for shut-ins and homebound in our congregation. With regular visits, remembering special occasions and family contact, the Honey Bees perform a vital ministry in our church as they carry God's love to their "flowers".

The Coordinating Team is concerned about P.W.'s dwindling attendance. We are unable to stress how much you are needed. Please commit yourself to all we stand for in our church.
"When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left—but could say, 'I used everything you gave me.' Erma Bombeck
Now… We need your support! Hopefully, you will commit yourself to join us each month at the Gathering. Don’t forget that we also have Circles to visit or to join.
May God, and His Son Jesus, bless our group and guide us all this coming year.

All the girls of the "Girls Get Together" give praise and thanks to God for another wonderful year of love, fellowship, and spiritual growth.
During 2007 the girls have continued their Bible study with the book Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World by Joanne Weaver. This book focuses on Luke 10: 38-43, when Jesus comes to visit Mary and Martha at Bethany.
The lives of the girls today aren't really all that different from those of Mary and Martha in the New Testament. Like Mary, we long to sit at the Lord's feet... but the daily demands of a busy world just won't leave us. Like Martha, we love Jesus and really want to serve him ... yet we struggle with weariness, resentment, and feelings of inadequacy.
Then Jesus comes into the midst of our busy lives to extend the same invitation he issued long ago to Mary and Martha. Tenderly he invites us to choose - "the better part" - a joyful life of intimacy with Him that flows naturally into loving service.
Over the months this book has probed, challenged, and encouraged the girls to draw closer to Jesus. The topics have included "Lord Don't You Care," "Living Room Intimacy," "The Better Part," "Martha's Teachable Heart," and "Extravagant Love."
In November the girls returned to Cedarkirk for their second weekend retreat. The theme for the weekend was "In His Beauty." The girls enjoyed the hayride, the campfire, the canoe trip, the zip lining, and the time of study and worship. It was a time for them to refresh and renew themselves.
The Girls look forward to 2008.

Explaining Life Membership Awards
Submitted by Julia Keys Williams
Our congratulations go to Jane Rockel who received the honorary Life Membership in Presbyterian Women on April 29, 2007. You may ask, "What is the significance of the Life Membership?"
A Life Membership is the highest honor given to an individual by Presbyterian Women. It is conferred on a person in recognition of faithful service in some area of the church's work. Moderators, presidents, leaders, teachers, officers, pastors and missionaries have been among the recipients of this honor.
The Presbyterian Women group conferring this honor sends a $75.00 check payable to the Treasurer of Presbyterian Women in the Presbytery. Funds derived from these gifts are used for Enabler and Moderator training costs, support of leader development events for women, and assistance for training of leaders for mission interpretation and support.

The recipient of the honor is given a certificate and a pin in the shape of a butterfly. One of the wings shows hands representing women who seek to build an inclusive community of Presbyterian Women. Another wing shows a leaf representing growth of our personal and corporate response to Jesus Christ as we nurture our faith. A dove represents our work for peace in our own lives, and throughout the world, shown by a globe. At the center is the cross, by which our sins are forgiven and we are freed to live in Christ, who is at the center of our lives. The overall butterfly is the symbol of newness in Christ and the emergence of a new creature, Presbyterian Women. Any Bee Ridge member may nominate a future recipient. To add a name to the list which we already have, see Joyce Kelly or Julia Williams.
